Field Service Technician
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician to support the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of oil & gas measurement and automation systems, including LACT units, meter skids, NGL skids, and gas meter runs.
This role requires a strong foundation in electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical systems, along with the ability to diagnose complex field issues, improve system reliability, and deliver high-quality service to customers in demanding field environments.

Primary Responsibilities:
Measurement Systems & Equipment
Install, commission, and start up:
- ACT (Lease Automatic Custody Transfer) units
- Crude oil, produced water, and NGL meter skids
- Gas meter runs (orifice, ultrasonic, Coriolis, thermal mass)
- Perform meter proving, calibration, and system validation in accordance with API and AGA standards
- Troubleshoot and repair:
- Flow meters (Coriolis, ultrasonic, turbine, PD)
- Control valves, regulators, and back pressure valves
- Pumps, motors, and mechanical components
- BS&W equipment, sampling systems, and analyzers
Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation
- Install, commission, and troubleshoot:
- Electrical systems (up to 480V), MCCs, and control panels
- PLCs, RTUs, flow computers, and HMI systems
- VFDs, transmitters (pressure, temperature, flow, level), and I/O systems
Diagnose faults using:
- Multimeters, megohmmeters, and diagnostic tools
- Electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and P&IDs
- Ensure proper grounding, bonding, and compliance with electrical and safety standards
Field Service & Customer Support
- Respond to scheduled and emergency service calls across the Permian Basin
- Execute work safely using LOTO, JSAs, permits, and energized work procedures
- Interface directly with customers, providing technical expertise and professional service
- Generate detailed service reports including:
o Root cause analysis
o Failure modes
o Corrective actions and recommendations
Reliability & Continuous Improvement
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance to reduce downtime
- Identify recurring failures and drive root cause solution
Contribute to:
o Standard work development
o Troubleshooting guides and checklists
o First-time fix rate improvements
Support a Lean, safety-first culture focused on:
o Reducing variation
o Improving uptime
o Enhancing service quality
Experience:
- 5+ years of field service experience in oil & gas, measurement, or industrial environments
Strong knowledge of:
o Industrial electrical systems (480V and below)
o Measurement systems and instrumentation
Ability to read and interpret:
- P&IDs
- Electrical schematics and loop diagrams
Experience working independently in remote field locations
Valid driver’s license required, with the ability to maintain a clean and safe driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LACT units, meter skids, or gas measurement systems
- Flow computer experience (ABB, Emerson ROC & FB3000, OMNI, WAGO, etc.)
- PLC/HMI experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, IDEC, Red Lion, Beijer, etc.)
- VFD experience (ABB, Danfoss, Rockwell, Schneider, LS, Benshaw, etc.)
- Familiarity with API and AGA standards
- Certifications: OSHA 10/30, H2S, Safeland/PEC, Arc Flash, TWIC
- Lean / Six Sigma or reliability experience
Education and Training
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Technical or vocational training in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Industrial Maintenance preferred
- Equivalent field experience or 5–10 years in a similar technical role accepted.
Work Environment & Requirements
- Frequent travel across the Permian Basin, STX, SE NM. (up to 90-95%)
- Work outdoors in extreme conditions (heat, cold, dust, wind)
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. (12 kg); frequently up to 50 lbs. (23 kg); and occasionally up to 100 lbs. (45 kg). (Above 100 lbs. help will be required)
- Climb ladders, structures, and equipment
Willingness to work:

o Nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
