The Labor Foreman fulfills the duties of a traditional Strawboss role. Works under the direction of the Craft Foreman or General Foreman to manage a crew consisting of 1 to 5 people. The Labor Foreman is designated as the person in charge of a crew to perform work under the direction of the company General Foreman. Directs the activities of Craftsmen, Crew members or Leadman knowing each crew members certifications and limitations, and gives suggestions to crew using personal experience and knowledge to help them understand proper and safe methods of performance.

Primary Job Function: 

  • Management of work crews. 
  • Create an efficient working environment, keep costs low and maintain employee morale. 
  • Maintain safe working conditions on the job site by monitoring employees to ensure they are compliant with both federal safety mandates and established safety regulations. 
  • Conduct regular inspections of the work produced to maintain quality.

  • Identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. 
  • Manage own time as directed by the Craft Foreman or General Foreman.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

Physical Requirements:

  • Tasks require variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting and reaching to include walking and standing 80% of the time.
  • Frequent activities requiring handling and grasping with the hands to turn wrenches and valves.
  • Occasional use of arms to reach above the head and will occasionally work on ladders and climb stairs.
  • Occasional lifting and pulling of up to 20 lbs., frequent lifting and pulling of up to 50 lbs., and occasional lifting and pulling of up to 75 lbs.
  • Exposure to flammables will exposure to the elements 100% of the time.
  • Ability to drive company vehicle for job performance.
  • Common eye, hand, finger, leg and foot dexterity exist.
  • Communicating, hearing and seeing required for completion of essential functions.
  • Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking and some creative problem solving.
  • Some daily aspects of the job pose threats or hazards capable of producing severe physical injury.
  • Exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or fumes.
  • Exposure to construction sites.

  • Complies with Strike’s Drug & Alcohol Policy maintaining favorable drug testing results throughout employment.
